August 2024 - Back To School In Style

At Sy Church, we believe that every child deserves to start the school year with confidence and a sense of excitement. That’s why our annual “Back to School in Style” event is such a special outreach for us. For our August 2024 outreach, we were thrilled to give away over 300 backpacks filled with school supplies, 220 pairs of shoes, and 238 brand-new outfits to local kids, helping them feel ready and equipped for the year ahead. 

 In addition to the supplies and clothing, we were blessed to have 12 amazing barbers and stylists volunteer their time and skills, providing over 70 free haircuts for children that day. There was a buzz of excitement as kids walked away not only with new shoes and outfits but also with fresh haircuts that made them feel ready to step into the new school year with confidence and pride. 

 The “Back to School in Style” event is one of our favorite outreach efforts each year because it allows us to support families in a tangible way. We understand that the costs of school supplies, clothing, and haircuts can be overwhelming for many families, so our goal is to help ease that burden while also making sure each child feels special and cared for. 

 The day was filled with joy and gratitude, as parents and children alike expressed how much these gifts and services meant to them. It was a reminder of the power of community and the impact that simple acts of kindness can have on a child’s self-esteem and sense of worth.
